Miley Cyrus, fresh off her first Grammy win, seemed poised for even greater heights with her latest single, “Doctor (Work It Out),” a collaboration with Pharrell. However, despite the anticipation surrounding the release, the track’s debut on the Billboard charts fell short of expectations.

Entering the Hot 100 at No. 74, “Doctor (Work It Out)” garnered one of the week’s lowest starts, trailing behind recent releases from Cardi B and Twenty One Pilots. Its debut on the Digital Song Sales chart at No. 11 also fell shy of projections, selling 3,431 copies in its first week.

Surprisingly, the new single failed to match the success of Cyrus’ older hit, “Flowers,” which maintained its position at No. 21 on the Hot 100 and climbed to No. 9 on the Digital Song Sales chart. Despite “Doctor (Work It Out)” being her latest release, “Flowers” continued to outperform it by a narrow margin.

Just weeks prior, Cyrus had celebrated her first Grammy win for “Flowers,” which took home both Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year. Despite this recent triumph, her newest single struggled to make a significant impact on the charts, raising questions about its reception among audiences.
