Memphis area to see season's first freeze warning
Bundle up Memphis, cold days are here.
Shelby County will see its first freeze warning of the season Wednesday night with temperatures dropping to around 30 degrees, according to National Weather Service Meteorologist Scott McNeil.
McNeil said northern and eastern Shelby County will face the freeze tonight more so than Memphis proper but by Thursday night, the county will see colder temperatures with a possibility of frost Friday and Saturday mornings.
"This could cause some damage to some plants, flowers, stuff like that," McNeil said. "If people have anything on their porch they want to protect they might want to bring it in. Bring in pets, don't leave pets like dogs outside."
He said the cold will move out for the weekend and bring sunny days.
By Saturday afternoon temperatures will climb to the 60s with lows in the 40s, remaining in those numbers for early next week, McNeil said.
